Bumper Aman production in Khulna

KHULNA, Dec 2: Aman paddy harvesting has been started in ten districts of Khulna division during the current season. The growers are expecting bumper output this season.
A congenial climate has been prevailing this year in Khulna division for smooth growth of Aman paddy and other vegetables.
This year, the rainfall in the district during the last two months was very low but the temperature was normal. Pest attack on the Aman fields also was minimum.
An official of Department Agricultural Extension (DAE), Khulna said a total of 753,200 hectares of land have been brought under Aman cultivation with a production target of 1,912,970 tonnes.
Of them, 643,500 hectares have been brought under high yielding (HY) variety and 109,700 hectares under low yielding (LY) variety cultivation in Khulna division.
The districtwise break up of land for Aman cultivation are- Khulna district 1,01000 hectares, Bagerhat 105,000 hectares; Satkhira 104,000 hectares, Jessore 1,31,000 hectares, Jhinaidah 94,000 hectares, Magura 49,000 hectares, Narail 29,000 hectares, Kustia 70,300, Chuadanga 45,300 hectares and Meherpur 24,500 hectares.
