Bumper Aman yield in Magura expected

MAGURA, Oct 22 (BSS): Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) is expecting a bumper production of transplanted Aman paddy in the current season in the district.
DAE sources said 52,140 hectares of land have been brought under Aman cultivation with a target of producing of 1,35,165 metric tons of rice.
The sources said the paddy plants grew well due to adequate rainfall before the transplantation of seedlings and timely supply of fertilizer, irrigation water and other agricultural inputs.
The farmers have cultivated high yielding varieties (HYV) of BINA-7, BIRI-33, GS, and local variety Sharna, Parangi, Norai, and BAT Tulshi to boost the production of paddy.
The DAE officials hoped that the farmers will get 60 maunds of HYV paddy from per acre and 20-25 maunds of the local varieties.
The farmers of the district have started Harvesting BINA-7 and HYV BIRI-33.
DAE Deputy Director Mokhlesur Rahman said the farmers are set to achieve the bumper production of Aman paddy if the favorable climatic condition continues.
