Bumper Boro production expected in Chuadanga

CHUADANGA, May 14: The farmers of four upazilas of Chuadanga sadar Upazila, Alamdanga, Damurhuda and Jibannagar are expecting a bumper  Boro   paddy this year .
Harvesting of the crop has been started which will continue till last week the month of May.
Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) office sources said a total of  36714  hectares of land in four upazilas of Chuadanga district have been brought under the Boro  cultivation. The production target  was  fixed 1, 43,184 metric tonnes of paddy.
Of them 6600 hectares of land were brought under Boro cultivation in Chuadanga sadar Upazila, 15050 hectares in Alamdanga Upazila, 8839 hectares in Damurhuda Upazila and 6225 hectares in Jibannagar Upazila.
Farmers of the district are passing their busy time for harvesting of paddy. They are also expecting a bumper production of Boro paddy this season as they are having at least 60-62 maunds of paddy from an acre of land.
