Bumper cauliflower production likely in Panchagarh

PANCHAGARH, Dec 12: A bumper production of cauliflower and cabbage are likely in Panchagarh district in the current winter season. The vegetables have met the local demand and are being exported to other places of the country and thus the growers will be benefited by this cultivation.
The local businessmen are buying this products in the local markets and selling them to different place of the country like Dhaka, Rajshahi, Sylhet, Chittagong and many other places.
Many people have been self-employed by early cultivation of these vegetables taking advice of the agriculture extension workers of the office.
Abdul Hai, a farmer of Fultala village informed that he has earned about 45 thousand taka by early cultivation of cauliflower from one bigha of land. Another farmer of Ahmed Nagar village has informed that only 12 to 15 thousand taka is needed for each bigha to cultivate cauliflower and cabbage.
He added 3 thousand pieces of seedlings are needed to be planted for each bigha and each piece of cabbage is sold at Tk 25 to 30. A farmer of Banagrom village Dilip Chandra informed that revolution in agriculture is not impossible in Panchagarh if they get help and assistance from the government.
