Bumper jute production likely

BRAHMANBARIA, July 20: Farmers of different upazilas in Brahmanbaria district are expecting a bumper yield of jute this year as the cultivation of 'golden fibre' has exceeded the target, sources said.
Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) sources said they had fixed a target of cultivating jute on 4000 hectares this season.
Of the total, 700 hectares of land were brought under jute cultivation in Sadar, 860 hectares in Banchharampur, 840 hectares in Nasirnagar, 345 hectares in Sarail, 110 hectares in Akhaura, 190 hectares in Kasba, and 105 hectares in Ashuganj upazilas.
