BRAHMANBARIA, Dec 31: A bumper mustard harvesting is likely in the district as its production has doubled in this season, sources said.
Massive steps have been taken to cultivate mustard in eight upazila of the district in the current season. The farmers have remained busy nursing the mustard-cultivated fields in the district.
Meanwhile, the crops have almost matured and the plants are full of flowers, which added a scenic beauty to the fields.
According to the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE), a total of 6,811 hectares of land were brought under mustard cultivation this year with the target of production of 8,532 tonnes of the crop.
Of the total land, 1,300 hectares were cultivated in Ashugonj, 350 hectares in Akhaura, 1,660 hectares in Nasirnagar, 406 hectares in Banchharampur, 1,500 hectares in Nabinagar, 750 hectares in Sarail, 450 hectares in Kasba and 395 hectares in Sadar upazilas.
This target is ten per cent higher than that of the previous year.

He cultivated his lands in the very beginning of this season.
