Friday, 6 July 2007

BRAHMANBARIA, July 5: Local fruit-growers and farmers are expecting a huge profit this season, as varieties of fleshy and juicy seasonal fruits have flooded the markets of the district.
The Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) sources said, the bumper yield of fruits in the current season may exceed the all time record.
Huge quantities of mango, jackfruit, guava, 'latkan', lemon, blackberry and other fruits are being sent across the country from the local markets everyday.
Cultivation of seasonal fruits in the district has increased manifold this season due to a huge motivational programme and technical assistance of the DAE, the sources added.
