Bumper production of T-Aman expected in Narsingdi

NARSINGDI, Oct 10 (BSS): Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) sources said the farmers have successfully brought 43,200 hectares of land under T-Aman farming against the fixed target of 42,000 hectares this season in Narsingdi.
While about 2.4 percent more land have been cultivated with T-Aman above the fixed target.
Maksud Ali, Deputy Director, DAE Narsingdi, told BSS that if there is no climate hazard a total of 1,05,500 tonnes of paddy are expected to be produced in the district this season.
He added that DAE has been providing farmers with logistic supports, including seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, irrigation facilities and other agri-inputs, for achieving success in Aman farming.
Of the total, 34,000 hectares of land have been cultivated under high yielding variety (HYV) paddy and 9,200 hectares are under local variety.
