Bumper wheat output likely in Joypurhat, Rajshahi

The farmers of Joypurhat and Rajshahi districts are expecting a bumper production of wheat during the current season amid suitable weather conditions, reports BSS
In Joypurhat, farmers are eyeing a bumper production of wheat during the current season.
Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) sources said they set a target for cultivating wheat on 2,350 hectares of land with a production target of 7,400 tonnes of wheat. But wheat was cultivated on 2,386 hectares of land in the district exceeding its fixed target.
According to DAE sources, farmers are showing more interest in crop production as the present agri-friendly government has undertaken extensive programmes.
In Rajshahi, farmers are eyeing good wheat yield because all the farming fields are in excellent condition amid favourable weather condition everywhere in the region, including its vast Barind tract, during the upcoming harvesting season.
