Buriganga Bridge

Tuesday, 4 August 2015

National dailies reported on August 02, 2015 that transport workers blocked Buriganga Bridge at Postagola on the previous day, that is Saturday, a week after they blocked the bridge protesting against the revised tolls. They were demanding to make the bridge toll-free. The bridge  under reference was a gesture of goodwill from the Chinese government. It was constructed with Chinese finance.
But the government has been collecting tolls from the bridge for last 15 years. It should not have been so and on the contrary, it should have been made toll-free like the Kanchanpur Bridge. I would like to urge the authorities to accept the demand of the transport workers and make the bridge toll-free.
