Bus falls into ditch: 11 die in Manikganj

MANIKGANJ, June 16 (UNB): At least 11 people were killed and 35 injured in a tragic road accident at Pukhuria in Ghior upazila on Dhaka-Aricha Highway Wednesday.
Three of the deceased were identified as Hanufa Begam (35), her daughter Asmani (12) and son Imran (9) of Char Katari village in Daulatpur upazila.
The identity of five others died on the spot could not be known immediately.
A divers' unit from Dhaka rushed to the spot and recovered three more bodies from inside the bus lying about 8 feet down the water. Aged about 18 to 20 the victims could not be identified.
The ill-fated bus could not be salvaged till the evening. It is feared that more bodies were stuck up in the sunken bus.
