Bus plunge into Jhalakathi ditch leaves 8 dead

At least eight people were killed and over 20 injured as a bus tumbled into a roadside ditch in Jhalakathi Tuesday, sources said.
Police and witnesses said a bus swerved off the Jhalakathi-Khulna highway into a ditch in Rajapur Upazila's Biswasbarhi area in the afternoon.
Police feared fatalities could rise as several others were believed to be trapped inside the bus.
The victims, who include a woman, could not be identified immediately.
A bdnews24.com report quoted Rajapur police OC Masuduzzaman as saying that the Barisal-bound 'Ripon Paribahan' bus crashed into water after the driver mistakenly drove onto an under-construction bridge.
Bodies of seven passengers had been recovered till the time this report was prepared.
