Bus set afire, 10 damaged after accident in city

An angry mob set fire to a bus and damaged 10 others following a road accident near Malibagh level-crossing in the city Friday that left a man seriously injured. Police said the accident took place in front of Padma Cinema Hall as a Tongi-bound passenger bus hit the unidentified man, aged about 32, at around 5.0 pm, leaving him critically injured. Outraged by the accident just before Iftar, nearby people torched the bus and ransacked another 10, disrupting traffic on the road for an hour. On information, firefighters from Khilgaon station rushed in and put out the fire. The injured was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in a critical condition. — UNB
