Bus-truck collision blocks Dhaka-Aricha highway

Traffic on Dhaka-Aricha highway was disrupted for several hours on Tuesday after a bus and truck crashed into each other in Dhamrai Upazila of Dhaka district. At least 15 bus passengers were injured after the collision at the Bathuli Bridge around 7:00am, said Dhamrai Police OC Firoz Talukder. The ‘AK Travels’ bus, headed from Dhaka city to Manikganj town, crashed into a lorry coming from the opposite direction. The front of the bus has been damaged, he said. The lorry’s rear wheels were badly damaged and it blocked the road off. Finally the lorry was moved away after 2 hours. Rows of vehicles were stuck on both sides of the crash site until the two vehicles were removed. Passengers, who were traveling to their respective destinations during Holy Ashura vacation, were the worst sufferers, according to a news agency.
