CHITTAGONG, Nov 14: Transports operating on different routes of the district including the port city are still realising excess fare from the passengers despite a cut in the price of fuel oil last month. It leads to frequent unpleasant incidents while the concerned administration is quite indifferent to taking any effective step on the matter.
The price of fuel oil was reduced on October 26 last, and accordingly fare of the vehicles was also decreased by Tk 0.7 per km. But the buses and other transport operating in the district including city area are not complying with the directive and still realising excess fare.
Expressing concern on the prevailing situation a number of passengers at the Kadamtali Bus terminal in the city said the present caretaker government has succeeded in different fields but some godfathers who dare to disobey the government order in the transport sector still remain untouched.
In this connection BRTA sources said if the bus owners are realising excess fare, the BRTA has nothing to do. Law enforcers may play their due role in this regard.
