A high-profile business delegation of Bangladesh Sunday left Dhaka for New Delhi as entourage of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's state visit to India.
The 47-member delegation led by Kazi Akramuddin Ahmed, chairman of Standard Bank Ltd and Abul Kashem Ahmed, first vice president of Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) will pursue for export promotion urging New Delhi to allow duty-free concessions for Bangladeshi products and also to allow more goods from Dhaka.
During the meetings the Bangladesh business leaders will emphasis the need for larger export from Bangladesh to India to reduce the huge trade gap between the two countries.
During the visit the business delegation will discuss about trade imbalance, tariff and non-tariff barrier issues, sharing of power, present strict visa regime, investment problems, land port up-gradation facilities, certification and standardisation problems etc.
The delegation members will take necessary initiative to reduce existing barriers to develop expansion of bilateral trade.
The business leaders will urge the counterparts and the Indian Government to implement the SAFTA and the other bilateral issue like maritime boundary, sharing of water, border issues etc.
The business delegation will meet the leaders of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), the Conference of Indian Industry (CII) and Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM).
