Businessman rescued, 5 kidnappers held in city

Police have rescued an abducted businessman and arrested five alleged kidnappers from Fulbaria of Turagh area of Dhaka city. The rescued businessman was known as Mukhlesur Rahman, while the arrested abductors are—Md Abdul Gafur, Gulam Md Chowdhury, Md Azad Hossain Rukun, Md Shohanur Alam and Sanaullah. Biplob Kumar Sarker, Deputy Commissioner of Tejgaon Division on Monday said Mukhlesur Rahman's cousin registered a general diary (GD) with Adabar police station on June 27 mentioning that Mukhles had been missing since June 25, and unidentified kidnappers were demanding Tk3.00 million as ransom over phone. Adabar thana police started investigation into the matter and finally identified the position of the kidnappers using information technology, the DC (Tejgaon Division) said. Later, a special team of Adabar thana police conducted a drive at Fulpur area and rescued the businessman Mukhles, and arrested the five kidnappers, he said, adding that the police also recovered Tk 23,000 out of Tk0.15 million which was snatched from Mukhles, Biplob Sarker said, accordintg to a news agency.
