Businessman rescued from Gazipur forest hrs after kidnap

Police have rescued a businessman from the forest in Gazipur hours into his kidnap in Bhawal National Park area in the district. The victim was identified as Gopal Biswas, an exporter of crabs and fishes and resident of Uttara area of Dhaka city. Police, quoting the victim, said a group of unidentified man abducted Gopal from the Bhawal National Park area around 12noon on Sunday. The kidnappers demanded a ransom of Tk 5 million and threatened to kill him if the money was not paid. The kidnappers later left him in the woods at Ranipur in Gazipur Sadar upazila on Sunday evening with his eyes, hands and legs tied. Locals identified Gopal and informed police who rushed in and rescued him at night, according to a news agency.
