Businessman robbed of Tk 0.6m

Muggers snatched away Tk 0.6 million (six lakh) from a businessman in Sylhet city on Tuesday evening. Police and witnesses said Koyes Ahmad, a resident of Anamika Shahi Eidgah in the city, withdrew Tk 600,000 from National Bank Uposhohor Branch and started for Ambarkhana to deposit the money with the Islami Bank branch there. As he reached near Electric Supply Mosque at Ambarkhana in Kotwali Police Station by a CNG-run auto-rickshaw with the money contained in a bag at around 5:30 pm, a group of muggers, numbering 4-5, on two motorbikes, intercepted him. As he refused to hand over the bag containing to the muggers the miscreants swooped on him and took away the money at gunpoint. Koyes was slightly injured. A case was filed, according to UNB.
