Businessman stabbed, mugged Tk6.5m

Some muggers have allegedly snatched away Tk6.5 million (Tk6500,000) from a businessman and his two employees in Gaibandha. Police arrested three persons early on Saturday over the incident that took place at Jhilpara on Gobindaganj-Ghorhaghat road on Friday night, Gobindaganj Police Station's OC ABM Jahidul Islam said. Kamal Uddin, 48, a ceramic goods dealer, was returning home with his two employees 'Ripon' and 'Liton' after collecting Tk6.5m on the annual collection day (Halkhata) of his business when they were mugged. A group of six to 7 muggers, equipped with sharp weapons, stopped their rickshaw and attacked them with knives before snatching away the two bags stuffed with the money. Liton was admitted to Gobindaganj Upazila Health Complex while Kamal and Ripon were discharged after administering first aid. Following a case filed by Kamal on Friday nightmidnight, police arrested Murad Hossain, 30, ‘Parvez’, 28, and Manik Sheikh, 25, the OC said, according to bdnews24.com.
