Businessmen hail \\\'Make in India\\\' campaign

Bangladeshi businessmen have welcomed the "Make in India" campaign launched by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi aimed to make the country a global manufacturing hub by smoothening business process.
They said the government of India through the campaign would lay out red carpet before investors by wiping out the red taped file to attract foreign investors that would open new horizon of development in South Asia especially for Bangladesh, reports BSS.
The Bangladeshi businessmen also urged their government to ease the investment process for them to invest in any foreign country.
The businessmen came up with the observation at the launching ceremony of "Make in India" campaign at Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC) organised by Indian High Commission in Dhaka.
Indian Premier Narendra Modi today launched his ambitious "Make in India" campaign at the Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi that was attended by top CEOs of Indian and multinational companies. The event was live telecasted at most of the Indian missions across the globe via video conferencing.
Modi also unveiled a logo of the "Make in India" Campaign. The logo is the silhouette of a lion on the prowl, made entirely of cogs, symbolising manufacturing, strength and national pride. The national emblem, Ashok Chakra, also has four lions.
Speaking on the occasion, Abdul Matlub Ahmad, President of India-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said India wants more foreign companies would set up factories there and to this end, the Indian premier promised to offer effective and easy governance as well as business process.
He said Bangladeshi businessmen through tie up with their Indian counterparts could invest in that country easily taking the relaxed and congenial opportunities.
Matlub, also the chairman of Nitol-Niloy Group, urged the government for formulating a policy so that the businessmen could invest in foreign countries.
Kutubuddin Ahmed, Chairman of Envoy Group, said he has been given five-year multiple visa which proved that the Indian government has changed its policy.
"We (Bangladesh-India) should really shake hands and move together for vibrant development and economy of both the countries," he added.
Former FBCCI president Mir Nasir Hossain, Ahsan Khan Chowdhury, Deputy Managing Director of Pran Group and Mudassir Moin, Managing Director of Afrooz Distribution, also took part as discussants.
Terming the "Make in India" as a call for prosperous India as well as South Asia, Indian High Commissioner Pankaj Saran said India's development and prosperity is strongly connected with its neighboring countries and South Asia Region.
He said Bangladesh could invest in power sector in India and hydropower has prospect in its northern state. Indian government allows 100 per cent FDI in power sector, added Saran. "Bangladeshi company and government could invest in power project in India to meet up its power necessity."

They took part in a function to have a glimpse of the inauguration of campaign titled 'Make in India' at the New Delhi Science Building organised on the occasion of the 100 days in power by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Assistant High Commissioner of India in Chittagong Somnath Halder organised it at the Hotel Peninsula in the port city on Wednesday.
The opening ceremony was exhibited in many countries including Bangladesh through the Indian High Commissions throughout the world.
Somnath Halder delivered welcome address on the occasion and gave brief description on the industrial corridor projects in different states of India to the entrepreneurs.
He said that eight specialised industrial zones under Delhi-Mumbai Corridor Project being developed are : Dadri-Noida Ghaziabad Industrial Zone in Uttar Pradesh, Menesar Industrial Zone in Haryana, Khuskhera-Bhaiwardi Nimrana Industrial Zone in Rajasthan, Pithampur-Dhar-Mou Industrial Zone in Madhya Pradesh, Ahmedabad-Dhanera Industrial Zone in Gujrat, Sandra Industrial Zone in Maharastra, Dighi Port Industrial Zone and Jodhpur Palli Marwar Industrial Zone in Rajasthan.
Besides, Mr Halder has briefed on Chennai-Bangaluru Industrial Corridor, East Coast Economic Corridor, Amrisar Kolkata Industrial Corridor, Northeast Myanmar Industrial Corridor and Bangaluru-Mumbai Industrial Corridor.
Director of BGMEA Syed Nazrul Islam, Director of PHP Group Ali Hussain, Chairman of BSRM Alihussain Akberali, CEO of State Bank of India Debashis Nandi, Nitin Aurora of the KDS Group, vice president of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry Syed Jamal Ahmed, director Mahfuzul Haque Shah and Shihab Malek attended the function.
