Butenis to help get RMG's duty-free access to US market

Outgoing United States (US) Ambassador in Bangladesh Patricia A Butenis assured the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce of Industry (FBCCI) of her allout cooperation so that Bangladesh's apparels get duty-and quota-free access to the US market.
FBCCI President Mir Nasir Hossain made the disclosure at a press briefing after a farewell meeting with the outgoing US ambassador at the federation office in the city Tuesday, reports UNB.
During the meeting, Butenis lauded the role of Bangladeshi businessmen in the last couple of months.
The ambassador apprised the FBCCI president that she had already taken the matter to Washington and assured him of her allout cooperation in this connection.
"It's very much appreciable that the businessmen of Bangladesh not only take care of their own businesses, but also look after the interest of the country", Butenis was quoted to have told the meeting.
The FBCCI president said Butenis inquired about the businessmen's views about the changed situation in Bangladesh.
"It was inevitable for the country's economic growth", Nasir told Butenis, adding that the situation helped solve some problems, including port operations.
