Discouraging gathering at the sacrificial animal markets amid the coronavirus pandemic, Local Government and Rural Development (LGRD) Minister Md Tajul Islam on Monday urged people to use online platform for selling and buying animals to contain the spread of the virus, reports UNB.
He made the remarks while talking to journalists at his Ministry.
LGRD Minister also informed that he bought sacrificial cattle for Eid-ul-Azha from the Digital Animal Market set up by the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC).
He also stated that this year animal markets will be arranged on a limited scale across the country due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Earlier on Saturday, LGRD Minister urged all concerned to arrange sacrificial animal markets in wider spaces with a limited number of people.
The ministry has already given directives to all the divisions under LGRD Ministry and district and upazila administrations in this regard, said the minister.
He also urged all concerned to maintain health guidelines and social distancing rules at sacrificial animal markets.
