Buyers show strong demand

Thursday, 27 August 2009

This is the first sale of Ramadhan, which witnessed a strong demand from all sections of the market. The bright feature of the sale was the demand for well made, good liquoring tea in both Brokens and Fanning categories, which appreciated often by Tk 4.0 or more. Blenders operated strongly along with more inquiry from the Loose tea buyers. Pakistan buyers were a little more active than last week. As a result, withdrawals were much less this week. Dusts were a better market at dearer rates.
CTC Leaf: 23,093 packages (and 224 packages of old season) on offer met with a strong demand at mostly dearer rates particularly towards the close.
Brokens: Well-made good liquoring Brokens were strongly competed for and were generally firm to dearer by Tk 2.0 to Tk 4.0. The best types could be quoted between Tk 136 and Tk 140. The plainer types met with more interest and were mostly firm.
Fannings: Well made good liquoring Fannings met with quite a strong demand and were often dearer sometimes by Tk 2.0 to Tk 3.0 and the best could be quoted between and Tk 136 to Tk 139. Other verities were fully firm to slightly dearer. Plainer varieties were well supported often at firm rates.
CTC Dust: 4,863 packages and on offer met with an improved demand at firm to dearer rates. Best liquoring varieties were strongly competed for and were dearer by up to Tk 5.0 and more. Others were mostly firm to occasionally dearer whilst the plainer liquoring types eased slightly over last week. Both, Blenders and Lose Tea buyers lent more support.
