Buyers showing interest in small-sized flats

Apartment buyers are showing interest in small sized flats and apartments located in the outskirts of the major cities at the REHAB fair being held in the capital, buyers and realtors told the FE.
They are also showing keen interest in holiday apartments being built in Cox' Bazar resort area.
While visiting the second day of the five-day long fair at Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre (BCFCC) Wednesday, it was found that large crowds were thronging those stalls which are offering such flats.
One sales executive at the Concord Real Estate told the FE that most of their projects consisting of one or two bed-room apartments have been sold out.
"We took up a project of small sized flats near Baridhara in the capital covering areas below 600 square feet and all have been sold out," said Md Mahabubul Haque, senior marketing executive of Concord said.
Md Mizanur Rahman, who works at a private bank told the FE that he prefers small sized apartments as larger flats are costly.
One official at the Mohammadi Homes said they have also taken up projects consisting small sized apartments and claimed that bookings of such products were encouraging.
"We are constructing flats covering 704 square feet at Mohammadpur and buyers are giving bookings for those," said an official of the real estate.
On the other hand, buyers are also showing interest on the projects located in Gazipur, Savar, Keraniganj, Narayanganj, Comilla and even in Pabna.
Advanced Development Technologies, a leading realtor, took a big project at Kornapara at Savar to provide big flats at affordable price for the middle-class buyers.
"A flat of 1400 square feet at Kornapara is Tk 2.99 million, which is low compared to similar flats in Dhaka," claimed a senior executive.
Forhad Hossian, an executive of a multinational consumer product company, said flats at the outskirts of Dhaka are affordable.
"I am preferring flats at the areas as those are affordable, environment friendly and the road communication is better with the city," he added.
Bestway Products, a local realtor, has undertaken projects in Valuka and Gazipur to provide flats at affordable prices.
Prices of flats in Gazipur, Savar, Bhaluka ranged between Tk 2500 and Tk 2600 per square feet.
"We are getting queries from the aspirant buyers on the projects," said an official of the company.
Home Stone, a realtor, is offering fully furnished flats at Cox's Bazar.
