Buzz about Latif Siddiqui in HC dismissed
Monday, 24 November 2014
Reports about sacked telecommunications minister Latif Siddiqui going to High Court to secure bail has been denied by his lawyer. Nurul Islam Sujon, quoted in several media reports that placed the expelled ruling party leader in court on Monday morning, said: ‘No client named Abdul Latif Siddiqui has contacted me. I did not say that he was in the High Court. Those who have said it, did so on their own responsibility.’ Latif Siddiqui, axed from Cabinet and the Awami League, after saying he was opposed to Hajj and Tabligh Jamaat, returned home in an Air India flight on Sunday night. He has been accused of hurting religious sentiments in a flurry of cases filed across the country after he made the remark at a discussion in New York in September. There are also several warrants out for his arrest, according to bdnews24.com.
