B’desh men\\\'s share 2nd lead, women\\\'s come back with win

Bangladesh men's team share the 2nd lead in the open category of the 41st World Chess Olympiad with 19 other countries after playing a 2-2 points draw with Belgium in the 3rd round while women's team came back to form beating Sri Lanka 3-1 points Monday in Tromso, Norway, reports UNB.
With the draw, Bangladesh men's team secured 5-match points and 8-game points as they earlier defeated Zimbabwe and Chile, both by 3-1 points, in the first and second round matches respectively.
In the 3rd round matches, GM Abdullah Al Rakib and GM Niaz Murshed beat their Belgian counterpart GM Michiels Bart and IM Docx Stefan respectively while GM Ziaur Rahman and IM Minhazuddin Ahmed Sagar lost to their rivals GM Winants Luc and IM Ringoir Tanguy.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh women's team came back to form with a 3-1 win against Sri Lanka in the 3rd round.
With this win, Bangladesh women's team earned 4-match points and 7-game points. Earlier, in the 2nd round matches, they conceded a disastrous 0-4 points defeat against Armenia while they trounced Ghana by 4-0 points in the first round.
In the 3rd round matches, WIM Shamima Akter Liza, WFM Nazrana Khan and WFM Sharmin Sultana Shirin beat their respective Sri Lankan rivals WFM Chanrasiri, Yashora Tiumi and WFM Thilakawardana Supeshala while WFM Zakia Sultana lost to WCM Methmali.
