The 20th Triennial Commonwealth Auditors' General Conference was held in Bermuda from July 6 to July 9 with the main theme "Accountability for the 21st Century".

Auditor General of Bermuda Larry T Dennis inaugurated the conference, Deputy Prime Minister In-charge of Finance of Bermuda Madam Paula Cox delivered address of welcome.

93 delegates including 60 auditors general of Commonwealth countries attended the conference.

Comptroller and Auditor General Ahmed Ataul Hakeem led the Bangladesh delegation. Director General (Local and Revenue Audit) Md Abul Kashem accompanied him.

The conference thoroughly discussed two sub-themes namely 'The powers and responsibilities of the Commonwealth auditors general' and 'Supporting the scrutiny function of Parliaments and Legislatures'.

In addition, three workshops were held during the conference. The first one titled 'Strengthening Public Financial Management - Next steps' and was chaired by the Comptroller and Auditor General of Bangladesh.

Auditors general of Canada, Australia, Malaysia and Sri Lanka attended, the workshop among others.
