CA opens Airport Road-Rokeya Sarani link road

Chief Adviser Dr Fakhruddin Ahmed Thursday urged concerned institutions, architects, environmentalists, urban planners and conscious city dwellers to turn capital Dhaka into a planned city through joint efforts and ideas, reports UNB.
"The (present) government has taken short, mid and long-term plans to make Dhaka city a better place for living and livelier for working," he said.
The head of the caretaker government was formally opening Airport Road-Rokeya Sarani link road in the city at a function near Agargaon crossing in the afternoon.
As part of the short-term plan, construction work on a good number of roads within Dhaka city, are now going on fast. Of them, the major ones are Bijoy Sarani-Tejgain-Rampura link road, Airport Road (Zia Colony) Mirpur Cantonment road, Mirpur Grameen Bank Agargaon road, Kuril Interchange and Multidirectional flyover and Hatirjheel Intergraded Development projects, including Begunbari Canal.
The Chief Adviser said the feasibility study of an elevated highway in Dhaka under mid and long-term plans had already started.
