Cabinet approves purchase of 20m litres of edible oil, 20,000 tonnes of lentil

The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase at its meeting on Wednesday approved a number of proposals including procurements of 20 million litres of edible oil and 20,000 tonnes of lentil.
Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury chaired the meeting held at the Cabinet Division conference room at Bangladesh Secretariat.
Under an approval, four local traders-- Majumder Bran Oil Mills Ltd, Majumder Products Ltd, Tamim Agro Industries Ltd, and Green Oil and Poultry Feed Industries Ltd-- will supply 10 million litres of rice bran oil to the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB).
The total procurement costs will be Tk 1.795 billion while each litre of oil will cost Tk 179.50.
Also, the committee approved procurement of 10 million litres of palmolein oil, to be supplied by Sonargaon Seeds Crushing Mills Ltd at a total cost of Tk 1.843 billion where each litre of the oil will cost Tk184.38.
Under another approval, Karwan Bazar-based Shabnam Vegetable Oil Industries Ltd will supply 10,000 tonnes of lentil to the TCB at a total cost of Tk 847.70 million with each kilogram of lentil costing Tk 84.77.
The meeting also gave its nod to the TCB's proposal for buying 10,000 tonnes of lentil from M/S Modina Trading Corporation and M/S Bismillah Dal Mill at a total cost of Tk 836.30 million at a rate Tk 83.63 per tonne.
Also, the committee approved some other purchase proposals of the Road Transport and Highways Division, Water Resources Ministry, Home Ministry, and Local Government Division.
