Cabinet body approves nine projects worth Tk 21.71b

The cabinet committee on public purchase approved Wednesday nine projects involving Tk 21.71 billion for rural electrification, ICT networking for online VAT collection and Uttara road construction.    
Extension of contracts on rental power plants in Brahmanbaria, Ghorashal and Ashuganj was also endorsed by the cabinet body.  
Additional Secretary of the Cabinet Division Md Mostafizur Rahman briefed reporters on the decisions taken at a meeting held at the Cabinet Division with Finance Minister AMA Muhith in the chair.
The projects the cabinet committee approved are purchase of ACSR Bare for expansion of rural electrification for Dhaka Division of Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board (BREB) at a cost of Tk 555 million and purchase of distribution transformer at Tk 326 million and purchase of distribution transformer for expansion of rural electrification for Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions  at a cost of Tk 277 million.
Also approved are the purchases of ACSR Gross Beak Conductor under five lots at a cost of Tk 503 million, commercial off-the-shelf software, hardware, networking and managed services for value added tax (VAT) online project at a cost of Tk 2.36 billion, services under direct purchase method (DMP) from M/S China Railway International Group Co for development of ICT Infra- Network for Bangladesh Government phase-111 at a cost of Tk 3.19 billion, construction of approach road and bridge No. 8  at Uttara at a cost of Tk 252 million,  aluminium conductor steel-reinforced for upgradation of rural electricity distribution system of Dhaka, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions of BREB at a cost of
Tk 997 million, and SPC poles for strengthening rural power-distribution system in Dhaka, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions under two packages of BREB at a cost of Tk 2.41 billion.     
The committee also approved extension of contract by one year for operating 85-megawatt and 95-megawatt rental power plants run by M/S  Aggreko International Project Ltd and lowering tariff rate per kilowatt at Tk 3.26 from Tk 4.80, three-year extension of  contract duration of 145-megawatt rental power plant operated by M/S  Aggreko International Project Ltd at Ghorashal and lowering its per-kilowatt tariff at Tk 3.26 from 4.75, and extension of contract by three years of 50-megawatt rental power plant run by Energy Prima Ltd at Fenchuganj through lowering its tariff rate for per kilowatt at Tk 3.26 from Tk 4.65.      
Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu, Agriculture Minister Begum Matia Chowdhury and LGRD Minister Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, among others, attended the meeting.
