The regular cabinet meeting Monday afternoon endorsed a condolence proposal for army officers massacred in the Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) headquarters and approved six proposals, including the Real Estate Development and Management Act-2009 with some recommendations to make it a bill, reports BSS.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina presided over the meeting at the cabinet division in Bangladesh Secretariat in the capital.
According to the bill, every developer shall have to show relevant land documents to ensure its ownership as well as the approval of authorities concerned while selling the land to purchasers, Press Secretary to the Prime Minister Abul Kalam Azad told reporters after the meeting.
Azad said the developer must hand over the land with the registered deeds to the purchasers within three months from the payment date. The developer would take effective measures to ensure facilities of utility services, including water, gas and electricity, within the stipulated time, the press secretary added.
Other approved proposals are: Public Procurement (Amendment) Act-2009, Public Servants (Marriage with Foreign Nationals) (Amendment) Act-2009, Public Servants (Dismissal on Conviction) (Amendment) Act-2009, Fertilizer Management (Amendment) Act-2009 and Pesticides (Amendment) Act-2009.
With the approval of the Public Servants (Marriage with Foreign Nationals) (Amendment) Act, the press secretary said there would be no bar for Bangladesh diplomats to marry foreign nationals with the permission from the President.
Earlier, at the beginning of the meeting, the cabinet endorsed the condolence proposal for the army officers, who were brutally killed at Peelkhana on February 25.

In the condolence proposal, the press secretary said, the cabinet observed that with the death of the army officers in the BDR headquarters, the country has lost a group of brilliant and meritorious sons. Due to the massacre, the nation now in grief suffered a irreparable loss.
The cabinet members conveyed their deep sympathy to the members of the bereaved families of the deceased and prayed to Almighty Allah for salvation of the departed souls of the slain army officers.
