Cabinet greets Hasina for tri-nation visit

The Cabinet has expressed gratitude and congratulated Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina for her tri-nation visit to Japan, Belgium and Russia, reports UNB.
Following a thanks giving reference raised by Communications Minister Syed Abul Hossain, the Cabinet observed that PM's visits had added a new dimension to Bangladesh's economic and political relations with those countries.
The 86th cabinet meeting was held at the Bangladesh Secretariat Monday with PM Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
Briefing newsmen after the meeting at PID conference room, PM's Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad said the meeting had observed that Hasina's visit to the three countries would expedite Bangladesh's efforts to turn into a middle income country by 2021.
Mr Azad said that Foreign Minister Dr Dipu Moni presented a report on the PM's visit to Japan and reports on her visits to Russia and Belgium would be presented later.
Meanwhile, the Cabinet approved proposals for signing Cooperation Agreement on Culture, Education and Science with Spain and Bilateral Capital-Investment Development and Preservation Agreement with the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Press Secretary Azad said the PM would visit the UAE to sign the agreement soon.
Besides, another proposal for ratifying Bilateral Capital-Investment Development and Preservation Agreement with India was also approved by the Cabinet.
The Cabinet was further informed about the outcome of visits of Labor and Employment and Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister to Geneva and United Kingdom in last September and October.
"Japan has already announced to give US $400 million to Bangladesh for construction of Padma Bridge", he said.
