Cabinet okays draft ICT Policy

The cabinet at a meeting on Monday approved the National Information and Communication Technology Guidelines, 2015 to gear up the ministries activities' as well as improve citizens' services.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina presided over the meeting at the cabinet division on the day.
"Guidelines prepared in 2009 need to be updated. The new guidelines will give clear directives on how the information and communication sector will function," Cabinet Secretary Muhammad Musharraf Hossain Bhuiyan told the media after the meeting at Bangladesh Secretariat.   
The guidelines describe when, how and what the ministries will perform. There are 10 objectives in the guidelines, 56 strategic subjects and 306 dos and don'ts and also how to improve the citizen services.   
The cabinet was also apprised about Information Minister's visits to Malaysia from August 17-20, 2014 and and 10th session of Islamic Conference of Information Ministers (ICIM) from December 1-4, 2014 in Tehran.
The council of ministers also discussed the telephonic conversations of the BNP chairperson with others which surfaced through YouTube, meeting sources said.
