Call for creating micro credit fund for Afro-Asian countries

Representatives from 13 Afro-Asian countries at a workshop in Comilla Thursday called for taking initiatives to create micro credit funds at national and international level for alleviating rural poverty in the region, reports BSS.
They also suggested developing an innovative and effective model of micro credit delivery system through sharing experiences among the Afro-Asian countries.
Rural Development and Cooperative Division and Bangladesh Academy for Rural Development (BARD) jointly organized the five-day workshop titled 'Innovative Micro Credit Delivery Systems for Rural Poverty Alleviation' with the support of Afro-Asian Rural Development Organisation (ARDO) at BARD in Comilla, a press release said.
Twenty high officials from China, India, Ghana, Jordan, Mauritius, Nigeria, Oman, Sudan, Syria, Yemen, Zambia, Egypt and host Bangladesh participated in the workshop.
Secretary general of ARDO Dr Abdallah Yahya Adam spoke as the chief guest at the concluding session of the workshop while director general of BARD M Khairul Kabir was in the chair.
