Call for early enactment of PPP law

The government should expedite the enactment of the public private partnership (PPP) law for attracting domestic and foreign investment, a meeting was told on Saturday. PPP Office under the Prime Minister’s Office, Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) and Business Initiative Leading Development (BUILD) jointly organized the discussion at the DCCI auditorium. Senior Secretary to the Prime Minister M Abul Kalam Azad attended the discussion as the chief guest while Chairman of BUILD and former President of DCCI Asif Ibrahim was present as special guest. DCCI President Mohammad Shahjahan Khan who chaired the meeting, said improvement of infrastructure is a must for the rapid economic development. He sought initiatives for more involvement of private sector in the PPP process and laid emphasis on active PPP initiatives in building sea ports, railway development, waste management and tourism sector, according to a news agency.
