Call money, dollar remain stable

FE Report | Thursday, 21 August 2008

The inter-bank call money rate remained unchanged following the central bank injected fresh fund into the market, treasury officials said.

The US dollar also remained almost stable against Bangladesh taka (BDT) in the inter-bank foreign exchange market due to steady demand for the greenback, they added.

The call rate fluctuated between 7.00 per cent and 12.00 per cent repeating previous day's range.

The Bangladesh Bank injected fresh cash of Tk 12.81 billion through repurchase agreement (repo) at an annual interest rate of 8.50 per cent that has contributed to ease some pressure on liquidity in the market, they noted.

On the other hand, the banks quoted the US dollar rate between Tk 68.51 and Tk 68.52 Wednesday against Tk 68.52 the previous level in the inter-bank foreign exchange market.
