Call to add disaster risk reduction into dev planning

Speakers at a workshop Thursday emphasised incorporation of disaster risk reduction into the national planning process and suggested policy intervention and required institutional arrangement by the Government of Bangladesh, said a press release.
The workshop on "Mainstreaming Disaster Risk Reduction into Development Planning Processes" was jointly organised by the Comprehensive Disaster Management Programme (CDMP) under the Ministry of Food and Disaster Management and Bangladesh Public Administration Training Centre (BPATC).
UNDP Country Director in Bangladesh Manoi Basnyat was Chief Guest in the programme while CDMP team leader Ian Rector gave the address of welcome.
A total of 25 joint secretaries currently participating in the senior staff course at BPATC attended the workshop.
