Call to build resistance against BSF barbarism on border

Monday, 17 January 2011

Ganatantrik Bam Morcha (GBM) urged all to build up strong resistance against indiscriminate killing of Bangladeshis by Indian Border Security Force (BSF), reports UNB.
Expressing grave concern at the trend of indiscriminate killings of innocent Bangladeshis in frontier it said barbarism by BSF on Bangladesh-India border are increasing day by day despite their assurances.
Killing of ordinary Bangladeshis on border have increased alarmingly, surpassing limit of tolerance long ago, they said, calling upon every patriotic citizen to unite and build up strong movement in order to get rid of BSF 'barbarism'.
The call came from a meeting, organised by GBM, an alliance of left-leaning political platforms, at Muktangon in city Sunday.
Chaired by Saiful Haq, general secretary of Bangladesh Biplobi Workers' Party and coordinator of GBM, the meeting was addressed, among others, by central leaders of alliance Shubhangsu Chakrabarty, Junaid Saafi, Babul Bishwas, Abu Taher, Badrul Alam, Shamim Imam, Firoz Ahmed, Mohiuddin Chowdhury and Abdus Sattar.
The speakers said several hundred Bangladeshis were abducted, tortured and killed by BSF in the last two years. "Despite repeated call, the government has failed to take necessary step in order to stop heinous acts of BSF".
Barbarism on border will further increase unless strong movement and tough resistance is built up against it immediately, they warned.
They also placed a set of demands, including spotting members of BSF who are responsible for killing and maiming Bangladeshis and to bring them to book.
