Call to build resistance against unscrupulous businessmen

Tuesday, 1 July 2014

Publicity and Publication Affairs Secretary of ruling Awami League (AL) Dr Hasan Mahmud called Monday upon the trade bodies and people to build resistance against the unscrupulous businessmen, reports BSS.
"Some unscrupulous businessmen enhance prices of essentials by hoarding in the holy month of Ramzan to derive extra profit.  Trade bodies and people should build resistance against those unscrupulous businessmen. For this the government will remain with the trade bodies and people. As it's not possible for the government to monitor all the shops, people should build resistance against them," he said.
Dr Mahmud said this while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion in the city.
Bangabandhu Academy organised the discussion on current affairs at Bir Uttam Khwaza Nizamuddin auditorium at Segunbagicha in the capital with its adviser Haji Md Selim, MP in the chair.  Awami League assistant secretary Asaduzzaman Durjoy and Bangabandhu Academy secretary general Humayun Kabir Mizi were the discussants, among others.
Dr Mahmud said, "By breaking her own protocol and with humble appeal, BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia met Indian External Affairs Minister during her Bangladesh visit. We didn't know whether BNP leaders felt ashamed of such a meeting between the former Prime Minister and External Affairs Minister of another country. As politicians we felt ashamed and the nation also was ashamed."
