Call to declare renewable energy a thrust sector

Bangladesh Solar and Renewable Energy Association (BSREA) asked for financial incentives for the renewable energy sector.
The leaders of BSREA made their proposal at the scheduled meeting with National Board of Revenue (NBR) on Saturday in the city.
They proposed the NRB to take necessary initiatives to recognise and declare the renewable energy sector as a thrust sector or a prioritised one for its development.
They said the market players in the sector have taken different steps in cooperation with and recommendations of power and energy ministry to make the sector vibrant.
In the backdrop of acute scarcity of conventional energy and power, the need for promotion of alternative renewable energy has become indispensable for ensuring government's goal of achieving energy for all, they added.
