Call to eliminate disparities against ethnic communities

RAJSHAHI, June 27 (BSS): Speakers at an advocacy meeting here today unequivocally called for eliminating existing disparities against the ethnic communities besides ensuring their fundamental rights.
They mentioned that the ethnic people are not the isolated communities in the country. So, their rights must be protected rightly. There should be time-fitting measures so that their rights on property, education and health are protected.
Adibashi Sangskritik Unnayan Sangstha (ASUS) organised the meeting at Safawang Community Center in the city in association with Manusher Jonya Foundation.
Convener of Adibashi Affairs Parliamentary Caucus (AAPC) Fazley Hossain Badsha, MP, addressed the discussion as chief guest with Raj Kumar shaw, executive director of ASUS, in the chair. Large number of ethnic minority leaders, government officials, members of the civil society and ethnic minority students joined the meeting.
Deputy Director of Divisional Ethnic Minorities Cultural Academy SM Shamim Akter, Presidium Member of Jatiya Adibashi Parishad (JAP) Anil Marandi, Assistant Upazila Education Officer Ahsan Ara Rubi, JAP District Unit President Bimol Chandra Rajoad and ethnic minority leader Chittaranjan Sarder also spoke as special guests.
