Call to end injustice among teachers

Friday, 15 October 2010

Former adviser to the Caretaker Government Akbar Ali Khan has called for an end to discrimination between private and public school teachers, reports bdnews24.com.
Speaking at a conference of a schoolteachers' platform marking World Teachers' Day in the city Thursday Mr Khan said, "Ending discrimination between people is a constitutional obligation."
"Teachers say that private schools are becoming increasingly corrupt. Local politicians and school committees are contributing to that corruption even further," he said.
"And teachers have become the victims of this corruption."
He urged the government to free the education sector of political influence and bureaucratic dilemmas.
Secretary General of the schoolteachers' and workers' organisation Mohammad Nazrul Islam Rony presided over the conference.
In his paper Mr Rony stated that involvement of politicians with the education system needed to stop.
Among a number of demands raised there, were nationalisation of jobs and medical and housing allowances.
