Call to ensure good governance at all levels

GAIBANDHA, June 7 (BSS): Speakers at a function here Sunday stressed the need for ensuring good governance system at all levels including hard to reach char areas to have a better society.
"Due to the remote location and the geographical conditions, the char dwellers are extremely vulnerable and backward and deprived of the need based services from the duty bearers resulting their miserable life", they said.
They made the comments while addressing an advocacy seminar on Good Governance Project Initiatives at the training centre of a reputed national NGO Friendship at Madnerpara under Fulchhari upazila in the district.
Good Governance Sector of Friendship, which had been working for the welfare of the char people here since 2007, organised the seminar with the financial support of ERIKS Development Partner and Friendship Luxemburg.
Administrator of Gaibandha Zilla Parishad Advocate Syed Shams-ul-Alam Hiru addressed the seminar as the chief guest and additional deputy commissioner (General) Abu Bakar Siddique was present as the special guest.
With director, legal compliance and head of Good Governance Ayesha Taasin Khan in the chair, the function was also addressed, among others, by deputy director (DD) of department of agriculture extension AKM Ruhul Amin, DD of family planning department Dewan Morshed Kamal, child specialist of Gaibandha Sadar Hospital Yousuf Harunor Rashid, Fulchhari upazila primary education officer Abdullahis Safi and team leader of good governance Ahmed Toufiqur Rahman.
