Call to give Ctg city commercial capital status

CHITTAGONG, Nov 14: Chittagong Shop Owners Association (CSOA) arranged a meeting at Chittagong Chamber auditorium today calling for declaring Chittagong as the commercial capital of the country.
Speaking on the occasion as chief guest , Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) president Saifuzzaman Chowdhury said, major portion of revenue is realised by the government from Chittagong while Chittagong still remains neglected in every field. He said the previous government announced to upgrade the port city of Chittagong to the status of commercial capital. But it did not take any positive steps to implement the same during its regime.
CCCI chief called upon the present care taker government to take steps towards the desired end so that Chittagong emerges as the commercial capital of the country.
Register of the Trade Union Abdul Khaleque, Ali Abbas, Kamaluddin and Nasiruddin took part in the discussion among others.
