Call to launch social movement to protect environment

State Minister for Forest and Environment Adv Mostafizur Rahman Sunday called upon all to launch a social movement to protect environment from pollution, reports BSS.
"We must be united to protect the environment at all costs
for the sake of our own interests," he said while presiding over a meeting in the conference room of the ministry in the city.
The meeting was organised in observance of the World
Environment Day-2009 with the theme "Your Planet Needs Unity to Combat Climate Change."
It decided that in observance of the day this year four
distinguished personalities will be given environmental awards in four categories.
The programmes of the day include seminar, open discussion, essay competition, painting competition for children, and publication of souvenirs and special supplements in national dailies.
Forest and Environment Secretary Dr Mihir Kanti Majumbar, high officials of the Ministry and representatives from the government and non-government organisations were present at the meeting.
