Call to lower tariff on bidi

Pabna Zilla Bidi Mazdoor Union formed a human chain on Sunday to press home their four-point demand, including a cut in tariffs on bidi in the upcoming budget, says a press release.
Around 1,000 bidi workers took part in the demonstration held in front of the Pabna Deputy Commissioner's office.
After the programme, the union leaders submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister through the Pabna deputy commissioner, with a call to meet their demands.
Bangladesh Bidi Shromik Federation President Amin Uddin, General Secretary Harik Hossain, Vice President Nazim Uddin, Joint Secretary Abdul Gofur, Abul Hasnat Lavlu, Anower Hossain and Shamim Islam attended the programme.
