Call to make \\\'Ekti Bari Ekti Khamar\\\' project successful

RAJSHAHI, July 4 (BSS): State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam asked all concerned officials and staffs to work for successful implementation of 'Ekti Bari Ekti Khamar' (One Homestead, One Farm) project to make a dent in the labyrinth of poverty by infusing dynamism into the rural economy.
The government has taken the project to help stimulate rural economy for improving living standard of the people.
He was distributing crests and certificates among the best managers, presidents, coordinating organisers and beneficiaries of 'Ekti Bari Ekti Khamar' project in Charghat Upazila of the district Friday as the chief guest.
With Upazila Nirbahi Officer Rassel Sabrin in the chair, Sarda UP Chairman Rokonuzzaman Madhu, Ekti Bari Ekti Khamar Project Coordinator Shahnaz Khatun and local Awami League Leader Fakhrul Islam also spoke on the occsion.
Country's economic progress has been hampered due to narrow politics, Shahriar said, "We should come out from this narrow attitude of political parties to accelerate our development."
He said Father of the Nation of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had dreamt of a 'Sonar Bangla' through revitalising rural economy. But the evil forces destroyed the dream of Bangabandhu by killing him along with family members on August 15, 1975, he added.
Shahriar Alam said the present government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working relentlessly for building an economically self-reliant Bangladesh.
He affirmed that Bangladesh will become a middle-income country within the next three years well ahead of the targeted 2021.
"The government has been working relentlessly to achieve the goal of middle income country within the next three years."
State Minister Alam said the World Bank recently declared Bangladesh as a lower middle-income country.
