Call to make primary edn, health sectors more effective

RAJSHAHI, Dec 13 (BSS): Speakers at a view-exchange meeting Monday called for making the government level primary education and the health sectors more effective with a view to fulfilling hopes and aspirations of the people.
They said many people are still dependent on the government primary schools and healthcare centres for getting their necessary services in both urban and rural areas.
Local unit of Campaign for Good Governance (CGG) arranged the meeting for presenting a social survey report on 'Government primary schools and healthcare institutions' at the GDRC conference hall here.
Taking part in the discussion the participants expressed their grave concern over gradually commercialisation of the education system, which deprives low-income groups from their fundamental rights.
In this context, they underscored the need for taking immediate step against the commercialization process for ensuring a congenial atmosphere in the fundamental sector.
With CGG local unit President Prof Fazlul Haque in the chair, Civil Surgeon Dr Jahurul Islam, Paba Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Toufiqul Islam, Editor of Daily Sunshine Tasiqul Alam Bakul, President of Health Rights Movement Committee Mozammel Haque, Convener of Conscious Citizens Committee Prof Abdus Salam and CGG Central Vice President Mustafizur Rahman Khan were present on the occasion as resource persons.
