Call to protect migratory birds for healthy ecosystem

Wildlife experts and environmentalists in Dhaka on Sunday stressed the need for protecting migratory birds in the country to ensure a healthy ecosystem. “Migratory birds are a part of our ecosystem and if the birds population declines our ecosystem will be badly affected,” Conservator of Forests Dr Tapan Kumar Dey, said at a discussion marking the World Migratory Bird Day 2014. The Forest Department under the Ministry of Environment and Forests organised the discussion at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the city, according to a news agency.
